The painting was included in the summer exhibition "Nerdrumklanen" in Grandvartalet in August, as well as "Forvandlinger" at Fredriksborg in Oslo, 17-19 October 2025.

The storyteller from Texas paints dramatic pictures that in recent years have gone from being sharply designed and contemporary to dissolute and timeless. He is inspired by both Titian, Rembrandt, Caravaggio and Nerdrum, but also the Flemish genre painter Adriaen Brouwer.

In 2021, he won the jury's main prize in the World Wide Kitsch competition with the painting «The Messenger».

Roberts is an associate professor at Stephen F. Austin University and was a student of Odd Nerdrum in 2022.
