Kristine Onsrud is a Norwegian painter who works within the classical tradition, with an emphasis on storytelling and archetypes. She has always looked up to ancient Greece and been inspired by the great masters of history, and especially by Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio and Rembrandt. At the moment, she is strongly influenced by the Finnish painter Helene Scherfbeck and the Polish Olga Boznańska, as well as Odd Nerdrum.
After completing her bachelor's degree at Kingston University London in 2012, Onsrud wanted to improve her technical skills. In 2014, she began her studies at The Florence Academy of Art, and was awarded The Forth Year Price upon completion of schooling. Alongside working on her own paintings, she taught at the academy. In 2018, she left Florence to begin her studies at the Nerdrum School under her great role model, Odd Nerdrum.
