Boris Koller is an Austrian kitsch painter, composer and key harpist. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1989-1994. It was at the end of his studies that he traveled to Sweden and Norway for the first time, where he was captivated by the Nordic landscape. Several of his landscape pictures are taken from Senja in northern Norway, where he has taken many trips to the mountains. In 2001, he visited Odd Nerdrum in his studio in Oslo and there became acquainted with the painter Jan-Ove Tuv. They later spent some time together in the St. Michael Crypt in Vienna where they painted mummified baroque people.

Koller sat on the jury for the first Scandinavian kitsch exhibition in Tønsberg in 2002 together with Tone Kathrine Lyngstad Nyaas and Jan Åke Pettersson, and has been one of the most important promoters of the kitsch movement in recent times as well.
