Billy Roy Økland (b. 1969) from Auklandshamn in Sweden, is a classical figurative painter with international experience. He has exhibited paintings in the Kitsch-Biennale, Munich (2010), Poets and Artists Magazine, USA, and the Museum of Modern Art (MEAM), Barcelona. His work is represented in the book Fashion portrait. In addition to exhibitions at home and abroad, he paints extensively on commission. He is interested in the sensual, the living, and the timeless, which is reflected in both his portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. He constantly strives to give as much life and intensity as possible to each individual painting – be it of both historical and contemporary reality.

Økland has spent many hours studying in galleries and museums in Europe and is inspired by Rembrandt, Titian, Goya, Odd Nerdrum, Lars Hertervig, Peder Severin Krøyer, and more. He has been a student of Odd Nerdrum.
