A hanged woman

Melisa Calabria (b. 1993) is an Argentinian painter from Buenos Aires. She began her studies in the National University of the Arts (IUNA) in 2011, while simultaneously studying at several painting workshops in the capital city, including a twelve-year stay as Ricardo Celma's assistant. She became an apprentice of Odd Nerdrum in 2019 and studied on and off at Nerdrum School for three years. Calabria has received mentions in international competitions such as Figurative and Mod Portrait in Spain, ARC Salon in the United States, as well Royal Society of Portrait Painters in Great Britain. She has been invited to teach as a substitute professor at Academia de Arte Realista (ARAM) in Mexico and has taught at the Dutch Academy of Realist Art (DARA). She won a scholarship to study at the Innopraktika School at The Russian Academy of Arts in 2024. At the moment she works as a painter in Buenos Aires, in addition to working as Ricardo Celma's assistant.
