Born in Bolton, England, he spent his early years in the British Isles before his family returned to Ohio in the United States. Along with his sister, he showed an early interest in drawing and was inspired by the stories from the Golden Age of American Illustrations.
Fite's grandfather grew up in the Brandywine Valley in Pennsylvania and directed his grandson's attention to the Wyeth family dynasty of painters who lived and worked in the same area. Coming of age, Fite was trained in classical painting under Beth Schott from Cincinnati. During his five-year apprenticeship, he studied historical painters such as Rembrandt, Velasquez and local master Frank Duveneck. He later received a bachelor's degree in illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
In 2019, he became a student of the Norwegian painter Odd Nerdrum, who introduced him to the philosophy of kitsch. He brought this mindset back to his home state of Kentucky, where he founded the Louisville School of Painting during the pandemic.
Fite currently works with portraits, figure painting and landscapes from various locations across America. The muted palette of earthy greens brings forward a somber and pensive atmosphere in the paintings. They are often based on biblical tales and have the aura of a cross between Rembrandt and Andrew Wyeth.
