Arcadian Muse

Marjan Bakhtiarikish is an Australian painter who draws inspiration from Greek mythology, biblical stories, poetry and the classical painting tradition.

She was educated in Florence, Italy, where she studied at several schools dedicated to traditional techniques. However, she herself considers her most important source of knowledge to be the continuous study of the old masters. During her years in Italy, she spent countless hours in the museums and galleries of Florence and Rome, copying drawings of old masters and studying sculptures from antiquity and the Renaissance.

With a strong commitment to live-model studies and traditional craftsmanship, she produces paintings that seek beauty and timeless human experiences. Her work is in private collections both in Australia and internationally.
